Quantum Gravity : Keeping It Real
Not just a book but an entire series of new books! Quantum Gravity is a multi part adventure of operatic proportions put together from all the things I like about Science Fiction and Fantasy. It is a shameless romp. It is fun from start to finish. If some serious themes have crept into it that was probably accidental and must have happened when I wasn't looking (ahem). There's a girl cyborg secret agent with a troubled past, an elf rock star, some cracks in the fabric of existence that are starting to stretch the wallpaper - and not forgetting necromantic possession, doomed love, hot sex and friends who would sooner eat you than help you if you get them wet...
Reviews
Jonathan Wright, SFX 2006: "... a novel packed with memorable characters and ideas but that doubles as holiday-reading escapsim. No mean balancing act."
Colin Harvey, Strange Horizons 2006: "...the most densely plotted fantasy novel I've read since Roger Zelazny's Amber Chronicles... Keeping It Real should add to Robson's growing reputation, and deservedly so; it's an excellent first instalment to a new series, an enjoyable and fast-paced story with enough originality to make me look forward to the second volume."
SFFWorld.com. 2006: "...excellent romp...think an enthusiastic melange of Laurell K Hamilton' s Meredith Gentry, Tad Williams' War of the Flowers, Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat and touch of Marianne dePierre's Parrish Plessis, even The Bionic Woman or Transformers and you get an idea of how much fun this book is."
